Explore Rockville Destination Website
Developed in 2020 and launched in 2021, Rockville Economic Development, Inc. (REDI) and Visit Montgomery entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create a dedicated “Explore Rockville” brand focused on promoting Rockville, Maryland, as a tourism destination and featuring an enhanced quality of place.
The program began with the launch of an ExploreRockville.org marketing website that included dedicated landing pages for each district, a business directory, and an events calendar. In its third year, the program management was expanded to include Google Ads buying, SEO optimization, blog post copywriting, and a Global Bites Week.

Dedicated District Pages
Specialized district pages were created to serve as microsites, individually highlighting the distinct features of Rockville's diverse neighborhoods and districts. Each dedicated page features a customized map that highlights the district boundaries, seamlessly integrated business listings sourced automatically from a centralized directory, and personalized micro-itineraries tailored to enhance the visitor's experience.
Centralized Business & Attraction Directory
Rockville is home to a myriad of businesses, attractions, hotels, and restaurants, all seamlessly managed through a centralized directory that serves as the backbone of Explore Rockville. This directory efficiently updates website listings, categorizing them for easy access and automatically displaying relevant options based on each landing page's theme. The result is a tailored user experience for each page, requiring minimal backend management to ensure a smooth and customized interface.
Themed Micro Itineraries
Micro itineraries were curated to package individual attractions and businesses into enticing day trips or weekend getaways. These itineraries revolve around central themes such as "Art Meets Flavor" and "Bikes and Brews Experience," catering to diverse consumer interests.
Seamlessly Integrated Events Calendar
The website seamlessly integrates an events calendar to streamline the management of ongoing event postings. Utilizing an API connection, events posted on Visit Montgomery's central calendar are automatically fed to the Explore Rockville site, ensuring up-to-date and synchronized event information.
